We chose to
moor on the visitor's berth at Port Moselle, Noumea that is right down
town. Noumea is named the Paris of the South Pacific and the small cafes,
croissants, and flowers help create its charm. It was a treat to be back
in a commercial environment for a few days. The fresh produce and fish
market is situated on the waterfront and is open daily from 6:30am till
noon. The produce is the best in town though prices are rather expensive
(double of what you pay in Fiji). The bustling Casino supermarket is a
15-minute walk further around the waterfront and most items are available
at typical French prices similar to Tahiti.
