This is the boatyard that completed our 10 year, 100,000 mile refit, plus our 20 year, 200,000 mile refit. We think they are likely the best refit yard IN THE WORLD. They are Volvo & Yanmar dealers, Selden dealers (they are now replacing our rigging and Selden Furlex for the second time) and can do everything from repowering, rewiring, installing new decks, instruments and refrigeration. Located in Whangarei, New Zealand, just across the river from Robert and Lesley Swan's (Amanda's mum & dad) home, Norsand must be the top boatyard in the entire Pacific basin specializing in multihulls but also handling monohulls. Fair prices and excellent quality workmanship is what this yard is known for.

Baja Naval, Ensenada, Mexico
Located just 60 miles south of San Diego and in business since 1987 we were very impressed with this yard during our overnight stop there in 2015. Every one of the owners of boats being refit or repainted that we spoke with, and everyone with spoken with regarding this yard since, has had nothing but praise for their level of professionalism and prices.

Martin joined us on Leg 1-2016 from the Orkney up the coast of Norway and has now set sail for the Caribbean with his partner John aboard their very handsome Hylas 54.

Sailed with us on Leg 4-2001 from Norway to Sweden. Now she and her husband Leon Schulz are preparing their new Hallberg-Rassy 40 to cross the Atlantic.

Kathy Seigismund:
Joined us on Leg 1-2000 from Victoria to San Diego, then set sail days later with her partner Ken Machtley on their Tashiba 31. They are presently headed for Australia and keep an awesome and informative website.

Tom Hall and Liz McLoughlin:
Attend our Weekend Offshore Cruising Seminar in 1977, then sailed their Downeast 38 to New Zealand. They rounded Cape Horn with us in 1996, then sailed to 80 degrees North with us on Leg 2-2001. They now enjoy cruising Alaska on their Nordhaven 40.

Lois Crandell and Gunter Hofmann:
Sailed on Leg 3-1998 from Rarotonga to Pago. Recently they picked up a shiny new Catana catamaran in France and when we just spoke with them over the SSB radio, they were headed to Australia.

Dorothy Darden:
Sailed from Auckland to Tahiti on Leg 1-1998. Since then she and her husband Steve had a custom Melvin and Morelli catamaran built in New Zealand which they have sailed to Australia and Tasmania.
